TRACTORS RETURN TO PARIS TO “KEEP THE PRESSURE”

“Farmer: when I was little I dreamed of it, today I’m dying”: below the golden dome of the Hôtel des Invalides, in Paris, around thirty tractors from the Rural Coordination decorated with signs have been camped on Place Vauban for 12:30 p.m. this Friday.

This is the arrival point of a procession that left this morning around 10 a.m. from avenue de Versailles, near Porte Saint-Cloud: an action authorized by the police headquarters and organized by the union on the eve of the Salon of agriculture. In the afternoon, Marion Maréchal Le Pen, head of the Reconquest! at the Europeans, came to meet the farmers.

The tractors crossed the streets of western Paris for almost two hours, amid a hubbub of horns. Along the way, passers-by surprised by this unusual spectacle applaud and encourage the farmers. “It warms my heart,” confides Damien Chatelain, a farmer in Doubs. “To see that, even in Paris, all the people are with us. Today we were happy to see the Eiffel Tower, they were happy to see the tractors!”, he laughs.
