Allianz shares are still falling: Allianz decides to buy back shares and increases dividends


The board of directors is proposing a dividend of 13.80 euros per share for 2023, after 11.40 euros in the previous year. As the DAX group announced on the eve of the publication of the figures, it wants to buy back additional shares for up to 1 billion euros. The buyback is scheduled to be carried out from the beginning of March 2024 to December 31, 2024. Allianz SE will withdraw the purchased shares.

The previous share buyback program with a volume of 1.5 billion euros ran until November 2023. Since 2017, the group has repurchased shares with a total volume of 12.5 billion euros.

Allianz SE also wants to offer its shareholders an attractive dividend. The earnings situation and ensuring the Allianz Group’s adequate capital resources provide the framework, the statement continues. The regular distribution will be increased from 50 to 60 percent of the Allianz Group’s annual net profit attributable to shareholders, adjusted for exceptional and volatile elements such as amortization of intangible assets from business combinations, interest expense from RT1 bonds, gains and losses from the sale of businesses, and non-operational market movements.
